Nilesh Shinde

Welcome to my webpage, I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Resource Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, working with Prof. David Keiser.

Starting Fall 2025, I will join the O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University Bloomington as an Assistant Professor.

I am an environmental economist who studies how policies drive sustainable land and water management to enhance human well-being. My research covers forest conservation and land conflicts in Brazil, agricultural impacts in China and India, and water policy challenges in the U.S., while also exploring how air pollution and sunshine affect health and productivity.

I earned a Ph.D. in Natural Resource Economics and Environmental Informatics from Virginia Tech (USA) and hold degrees in Development Economics (from Brazil) and Mechanical Engineering (from India).
